What is Sober Coaching...

...
and how can it help YOU?
Finding Help is Hard!
There are many options for people who are trying to quit drinking or using drugs (or to quit other problematic behaviors) — but in the throes of addiction it can feel impossible to take the first step towards sobriety. This is because most people have tried to stop on their own — often many times — without success. We try to moderate. We try to quit cold turkey. We change certain habits. We try different substances. We make rules and break them. We alienate family and friends. By the time we hit bottom, it can often feel like everyday life is just too hard.
The Opposite of Addiction is Connection
For most normal humans, it's impossible to get sober alone. One of the most effective paths to sobriety is a 12-step program like Alcoholics Anonymous, where people attend meetings (in-person or online), get to know others in the process of recovering, and use the 12 steps to get sober and stay sober. But there are many reasons why people don't choose that path. There's where a sober coach like me comes in.
Compassion without Judgment
The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. The obstacle to taking this first step is often fear of judgment. What will people say? What will they think? What if I'm beyond help? As a coach, my first job is to listen without judgment.
Why is this important? Because it's hard to trust, or accept help from, someone who thinks they're above you. I already KNOW I'm not better than you. I was taught to remember an important fact: we're not bad people trying to become good — we're sick people trying to get well.
Concrete Actions, Proven Experience
I've lost count of how many people I've helped on their path to sobriety, because I've been helping other alcoholics and addicts get sober since 2006. As a sponsor in AA, I have helped people work the 12 steps. As your sober coach, I help you learn useful concepts, take concrete actions, and experience loving support. You don't have to understand how it's all going to work. You don't have to believe in miracles. But you can take the first step to a new life.
Just reach out to me and let's have a chat. I am ready to help you!
