What is Life Coaching...

...
and how can it help YOU?
The Myth of Self-Reliance
There are a lot of harmful myths in the American storybook. The "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" myth — which suggests you should be able to achieve all of your goals without help — is one of the worst. Why? Because it ignores the interconnectedness that is essential to any kind of satisfactory life. Think of the successful people you admire the most; I promise you they didn't achieve their success locked in a room by themselves.
Why Don't You Feel Satisfied?
Many of us have been running our lives on a program we inherited from our parents, or the community in which we grew up. We are born into assumptions: if you go to school, make some friends, get a job, start a family, find a hobby, you will be happy. But at some point, many of us look up and say "What am I doing?" Years of running that program hasn't resulted in satisfaction, fulfillment, or happiness.
This used to be called the "mid-life crisis" — and it is real. And it doesn't always happen in "mid-life" — is VERY common for people in their 20s to wonder what went wrong!
1. Revealing Your Values
Most people who feel dissatisfied are living lives that are out-of-sync with their values. My Life Coaching practice starts with understanding what's important to you. You deserve to have what's important to YOU honored. Some people have literally never thought about their values — I'll help you reveal and explore them.
2. Setting & Achieving your Goals
There are many different ways to coach someone, but in my experience, the most helpful thing is to help people set goals — goals that move them in a direction they want to go — and make plans for concrete actions to get there.
3. Accountability
The most important factor in achieving any goal is to have accountability. The people who love you the most are often poor accountability partners. As your Life Coach, I provide non-judgmental support, reminders of the steps on the path, and regular check-ins to ensure progress.
Let's talk about how I can help you!
